Changing from part-time to full-time or full-time to part-time?

See how it affects your benefits

When you change from part-time to full-time status or from full-time to part-time status, you’ll have different Michaels benefit options.

If You Are Moving from Part-Time to Full-Time

You will be eligible to enrol in full-time benefits, the first day of the month following your promotion to full-time (the 30-day waiting period will be waived).

For example: if you joined Michaels on April 1st as a part-time Team Member, and on May 5th, you were promoted to full-time, your benefits effective date would be June 1st as long you enrol with Sun Life when you are first eligible.

If You Are Moving from Full-Time to Part-Time

Any full-time health and life benefits will end, unless you work in Saskatchewan, in which case you may continue Extended Health Plan coverage. Any Optional Life and AD&D Insurance, Disability and Critical Illness coverage will end.

Regardless of Your Full-Time or Part-Time Status

  • ALL Team Members can save for retirement in the Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) and get the same Michaels matching contributions.
  • You still have access to Benefit Extras & Discounts.
