Canada Life Is Our New Benefits Administrator as of October 1

Starting October 1, 2023, Michaels will partner with Canada Life to bring you comprehensive coverage in extended health, drug coverage, dental, disability, life insurance and optional critical illness. There will be no interruption in your benefits, but you should be aware of some dates and actions that are part of the move from Sun Life to Canada Life.

September 30, 2023	Last day to incur claims on the Sun Life policy – for any Sun Life claims incurred before or on September 30, you have 90 days to submit claims to Sun Life for reimbursement. You can submit this claim form to Sun Life. If you will need a prescription filled between October 1 and October 6, it’s a good idea to fill it using your Sun Life plan before September 30 to avoid any delays in processing the claim.
October 1, 2023	Michaels goes live with Canada Life as administrator of our group benefit plans. We will start using Workday to manage your benefits enrolment. Log in to review your dependant or beneficiary information. You will have an opportunity to change your coverage in early 2024.
October 6, 2023	First day to register on My Canada Life at Work, the Canada Life member website – set up your account and download your digital ID card. First day to submit claims incurred on or after October 1 to Canada Life for reimbursement – you can submit them online or download a form to mail.

Your elections, claims history and benefit balances will be transferred to Canada Life, and you will use the same member ID number you currently use with Sun Life. Starting October 1, Workday is your resource for managing your elections, dependant information and beneficiary designations.
